ST. PAUL – Children fussed. Parents cried. Senators were outraged. Bureaucrats explained. “We have been pushed into the living conditions of a Third World country,” Jeff Brouse told a state Senate Health Committee hearing about a three-year effort to clean up a rural Thief River Falls dairy operation.

So MN officials are shocked, in spite of people testifying, newspaper and television coverage etc.?
Would our officials in Pierre be shocked if faced with the debacle at Veblen, that the SDDENR allows to go on and on?
This shows what can happen, what no one can guarantee won't happen when these places are permitted. They are almost impossible to shut down. And the damage is horrific.

The issue here is similiar to the issue at Veblon. When a company goes under the share holders want profits. Cleaning up the mess will be the responsibility of government.

The corporations take the profits and the local taxpayers pay the price. Imagine how much property values have declined in the neighborhood?

You have to feel for these folks. Is our area next? Where is the Zoning board? Are you listening?
